From the label on the can, stamped near the barcode: "02/07/24"
Appearance: The body is a dark amber color and it is extremely hazy to the point where it is nearly opaque with the exception of some light that makes it through the glass and some very, very fuzzy shadows. It has a short, creamy textured, off-white head with a bit of a tobacco stained yellow tint to it. It has pretty good head retention and it leaves a little bit of lacing on the glass.
Aroma: It has a light bit of pine aroma and what smells like grain husk.
Taste: Up front there is a bit of garlic flavor with a touch of pine. Towards the middle there is more pine with a strong grain flavor which has notes of wheat cracker, biscuit, and rye bread. A bit of lime on the middle of the palate as well. The finish is garlic and some grapefruit pith flavor, both of which linger just a little bit in the aftertaste as well.
Mouthfeel: It is easy drinking with a medium-light body and a medium hop bitterness that has just a light touch of resinous character.
Overall: It is an enjoyable and easy drinking beer. The can states that the style is explicitly a "WEST COAST STYLE INDIA PALE ALE" which ties in with the namesake listed on the label "WEST COAST PROVEN THEORY." It does have some west-coast style character with pleasant notes of pine. It feels like some of the older west-coast IPAs before the IBU arms race, because this has a much milder hop presence than many other IPAs on the market. It is definitely enjoyable and I could drink it again, but there are other regional and nationally distributed beers I would buy instead.
