A bit of an in- between IPA with some fruity notes on a WCIPA body.

A West Coast Style IPA from the west side of Passyunk Avenue in South Philly, this starts with an unfortunate pour. Yes, it's that big foamy white head that often indicates that barley malt has been spelled by some other grain, wheat being the likely culprit. The head recedes unevenly and sticks unevenly as lacing. This seldom indicates a good brew is about to be had. The smell brings a fresh and clean hoppiness, sort of piney in the West Coast style, so all hope has not been abandoned. Eventually, the contents of a pint can fit into a clear glass Imperial pint mug. The first taste, through a ridiculous amount of foam, is very disappointing. As predicted, there's virtually no body, since there's little trace of barley malt. Even the hops are no where near as biting as should be in a good WCIPA. Light in body, thin in mouthfeel and underhopped, certainly for this category, this is as far from a good West Coast IPA as Philadelphia is geographical from the namesake.
