Bottle: standard 330mL brown bottle, stylish craft label.
Appearance: the only word to describe the colour is in fact golden orange. Very rich in colour, with a ton of floaties. A one-finger white head pops up and drops to a solid cap.
Aroma: highly spiced, with sweet grains and a touch of bread malts. Kind of different to the normal golden ale, and I'm not sure it's in a good way.
Taste: a zingy spice up front, with some fruit and those bread malts at the back. Not overwhelming, but decent.
Aftertaste: lingers nicely, with the malts staying for quite a while. Not bad at all.
Mouth feel: light to medium in body with a moderate, fine carbonation. Could go down quite well in a session.
Overall: at AU$75 a case (2013), this is a bit laughable. It's a cask ale, which I like, but it is nowhere near good enough to command a price like that. Perhaps if it was $60-$65 a case. Perhaps. A bit disappointing after 3 Ravens' brilliant Black Stout.

A - Poured hazy copper. One finger of white soapy head. No lace and no retention.
S - Aromas of mild toffee, some hops, some smoke and some citrus. Seemed fairly tame.
T - Smoke again. So odd. Toffee and citrus. Couldn't wrap my head around this one.
M - Mild carbonation, light and thin body with a mild dryness.
O/D - A terribly weak showing of flavours in a style with potential to showcase different flavours to new craft drinkers. Smoke flavour was really strange and didn't seem to fit. Thin body was odd as well. Won't revisit this.
