Urban Village Brewing Co. "Wildey"
$2/4 oz. on tap at the brewery on 29 August 2017
Notes: "Classic belgian wheat with generous amounts of orange peel and juniper berries...". Hazy golden body beneath a creamy white head that holds fairly well and leaves some nice lacing behind. Limited aroma of wheaty malt, clove, and berry-like fruit. The flavor is much fuller though, and the added juniper berries come through clearly, backed by orange. It's not spicy, in terms of spice (coriander, etc.), which is an interesting twist, but there is a touch of spiciness due to the Belgian yeast. It's sweetish, and just mildly bitter (listed at 13.8 IBUs) but it still finishes mostly dry with yeasty spiciness as the fruit, and then malt, recede. Medium-light in body with a soft carbonation. Unique. Nicely done.
