Urban Village Brewing Co. "Tropic Thunder"
$2/4 oz. on tap at the brewery on 29 August 2017
Notes: Coconut Chili Porter brewed with coconut milk, toasted coconut, and roasted habaneros. Very hazy mahogany brown body. No head, but given that it's brewed with coconut milk that's to be expected, although it's still fairly unattractive. The aroma is simply chocolatey. The flavor reveals the coconut but it's not bright and the heat comes through directly. It's not so hot that it knocks your tastebuds out though, and you'll find more coconut and chocolate in the finish. Mildly bitter for what it is (listed at 24.4 IBUs); nor is any real bitterness needed anyway as there's heat to it... it finishes hot and dry. Medium-bodied with a soft carbonation as expected; any higher carbonation would only amplify the heat that's there. Interesting and enjoyable.
