Brewed with brown sugar, molasses and peated malt to give it a touch of caramel flavor and bit of smoke.

From a tap into a clear pint glass came a lovely contrast. The dense modest head is almost white and the brew is a deep dark brown. The aroma is of malty sweetness. The taste conveys all the listed ingredients; brown sugar, molasses and peated malt. It works well, as it's not too sweet, at least considering the style and it's in excellent balance. The hint of smokiness works with the roasted aspect of the malt, giving a little earthy bitterness to the finish. The molasses and brown sugar preceded with some earthy sweetness. The body provides a nice mouthfeel without becoming too thick or sticky. With plenty of nice glass lacing to view and only a mild taste of the alcohol, there really isn't much not to like about this one, provided you like Scottish Ales
