Out of a pint can and into a clear glass Imperial pint mug the brew went. There's an oversized foamy white head, despite a gentle pour. Admittedly, this was done at room temperature. The head is leaving irregular lacing as it recedes. The color is honey-amber and it's rather opaque. The smell is very appealing, with malt sweetness fronting a bit of hops, yeast and alcohol. It almost seems like there was honey in the wort. The flavor is bold and robust. There's more hoppiness here than the nose anticipated. The malty sweetness is also there, but the hops stand right with them. Apparently, the malts are local from here in Pennsylvania and the freshness is discernable. The sweetness works well because of that earthy freshness and good hopping. The hops also move the overall taste from malty sweet and earthy to dry during the finish. The mouthfeel is bodied and smooth. Not widely distributed by this small batch Philadelphia brewer, so if you get the opportunity to swallow some of this, do so.
