Draught @ Brewery: This one pours a dark brown color. Tan head with a fair amount of lacing. Good nose. Malty and some roast. Hint of some coffee, some smokiness and maybe some chocolate. Taste is similar. Nice!

On tap at the Avenue Pub
A: Chocolate brown with a tan one-finger head that lingered as we waited on the Iris parade to drop by. Significant lacing.
S: Heaps of malty goodness with chocolate and cocoa rounding out the bill.
T: Robust, chewy, chocolate malt decadence that keeps on keeping on. Creamy and rich. Lovely.
M: Medium to heavy with chewy, creamy carbonation.
O: Without a doubt, Wayward Owl's best at this point in their career. I love a good Scotch Ale and this one is just magnificent. The bartender confirmed it, too. Recommended.

A pretty good interpretation of the style, staying true to the classic description. Very dark color with a creamy head. It has a, smoky malty aroma, a slight medicinal note also, but not a negative. Mouthfeel is substantial, appropriate for a wee heavy. The taste is rich and malty as it should be. I'd drink this anytime. Had it on tap at Avenue Pub.
