Blackadder Brewing Company

Tucked in a quiet corner of a shopping center on west side of town, brewpub look a bit like a rustic retreat. Short straight bar opposite the entrance seats about 10 with some tables about the room and out front. Taplist is on a QR code and was fairly clunky, but looked like about 16 beers on tap. Efficient bartenders.

 

It's a cozy place with lots of tables and games. It almost feels like a cafe. The name is reference to the TV show and the interior has a faux Tudor architecture to it. Also, there is a cat that roams around. There is a projector which played the Balckadder TV show when I was there. They had a lot of beers from other breweries as well as their own.

Funky, quirky, yet modern in a medieval sort of way. Basically great fun and great beers on tap, about 10 of their own and another wide selection of guest beers. Family owned and operated, they have a 3.5 barrel setup in the back (free tours upon request!) where they concoct superb ales, mostly Belgian or, more apt, Belgian inspired, which are only sold here or at local festivals.

 

Amazing atmosphere, you forget you are in what is basically a strip mall. Barkeep appears to be the owner, he is extremely friendly. The fireplace (albeit electric) is welcoming and the whole place has a German feel. You may not find "the game" on a big screen TV, but you will likely find good conversation over a pint and perhaps one of their many board games. Selection is only faulted because I'd love for them to have more than four of their own beers. However, their guest beers included a few noteworthy draughts that almost stole me away from trying all four of theirs (which were all Belgian or French styles during my visit if that's your thing).

I'd recommend Blackadder in a heartbeat. It fits nicely in my rotation between Swamp Head and First Magnitude, and offers a different atmosphere than the others.
