Got this one from the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a 1pt can into a pint glass
Artist: Russell Balliet
Version 4
APPEARANCE: Pours a two finger, looser looking, foamier white head with good retention. Cloudy, hazy amber orange with no carbonation evident. Foamy head slowly recedes to a faint wisp and leaves some foamy lacing on the glass. A splotchy wisp remains leaving touches of lacing down the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Lots of tropical fruits. Pineapple, mango, passion fruit for sure, as well as some tangerine aromas as well. Fruity for sure.
TASTE: Caramel malts, bready notes, some tropical fruits and piney bitterness at the swallow. Medium but lingering finish of caramel sweetness, mango, pineapple, some passion fruit, as well as some grassy hops and a touch of piney bitterness.
PALATE: Medium-fuller body with medium carbonation. Creamy and smooth on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes slightly dry on the palate. Creamy, smooth feel.
OVERALL: This is solid. The malt base is nice and the hop character works well. It is perfectly clear, though, that the nose is a little more impressive in terms of tropical hop qualities than the flavor is. This seems to be a common issue with the NEIPA style. When it’s done right though, it’s done right, and this one is really close. Enjoyable for sure. Check it out if you see it. Cheers!

Pours a murky yellow-orange. Foamy white head. A little bit of lacing. Aromas of stone fruits and grapefruit come through in the flavor as well. Soft feel, a little low carbonated.

Pours a hazy murky darker golden color with a two finger white head that falls slowly and laces very well.
Aroma is nice fruity and sweet mango, pineapple, passion fruits, tangerine on a sweet malt base. Some lighter herbal and fruity like hops notes also present but the fresh sweet fruit notes rise to the front.
Taste is not as sweet as the nose but the fruit is present particularly tart pineapple, mango and a tart like tangerine notes all mover toward citrus bitterness of pink grapefruit rind mixed with herbal like notes that offer a good bitter bite which I appreciate. Like a New England style that actually still has some bitterness to it.
Mouthfeel is a big medium nice chewy body for a 7% brew with fairly mellow carbonation compared to some in this style.
Overall a solid IPA that I wouldn't mind having again.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 3/28/2019. Pours opaquely hazy deep golden/orange/amber color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, watermelon, red apple, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, biscuit, light honey/toast, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of huge mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, watermelon, red apple, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, biscuit, light honey/toast, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Very mild pine, citrus peel/zesty, herbal, floral, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, watermelon, red apple, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, biscuit, light honey/toast, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and bready malt flavors; with a solid malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 7%. Light increasing hop burn through the glass, but not overwhelming. Overall this is a fantastic NEIPA. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish; amazingly soft feel. Feels like Citra, Mosaic, El Dorado. Extremely juicy and lightly dank/earthy hops; with a perfectly balanced wheat/oat/malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazingly spot on style example.
