Taking the notion of smoothie IPA to summer, the Untitled Art team roll together two warm weather classics: lemonade and IPA.
Pink Lemonade rolls into the glass with a hazy mauve color and a soft backlit glow. Then the seductive scent rounds the nose with a strong citrusy perfume of lemon and grapefruit with strong red berry undertones and a soft hint of herbal hops. The first sip resonates strongly on the tastebuds with a hint of grain creaminess, light fructose sweetness and honeysuckle.
Light, floral honey and agave lifts as the ale scurries across the middle palate, with the tangy taste of fruit and hops. Raspberry and lemon rise to the top to give the beer a berry-like twang and a bold citrusy sourness. But as the hops link up with the fruit, the beer turns decidedly of a more tart pink lemonade with the pep of ruby red grapefruit. As a hint of cranberry and peppery bitterness trail into a tart and hoppy interplay, the lasting flavors are pleasantly of verbena, sassafras, light pine shavings and softly muddled grasses.
Medium bodied and trending dry, the beer lightens considerably across the palate, going from sweet and fruity to spicy, bitter and tart. A short and refreshing finish teases the tastebuds while closing clean, crisp and highly drinkable; but its the hops that keeps the session more beer-like than that of lemonade.
