16 oz. Can
Canned On: 08/31/21
Poured into a Tree House glass a pretty nice cloudy yellow/orange color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger plus white head, which also leaves some pretty nice creamy sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, guava, papaya, mango, melon), with some nice little diesel/pine like. The taste is pretty nice hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, pineapple, grapefruit, guava, papaya, mango, melon), pretty nice diesel/pine like, nice little sweetness. Medium body, ABV hidden pretty nicely, with a nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, this is a pretty tasty beer. Addictive! Orange Juilus! Milkshake!.

This review is based, partially, on my impressions of the v1 collaboration with Blackstack Brewing.
The body and head color remain the same while the head lasts long into the drink; partially hazy with a honey-toned color to the body; fairly thick and lasting head, soapy and sticky. No change with the smell qualities; caramel and old citrus notes. The taste is vastly improved; more punchy citrus and balanced hop bitterness with way less malt-forward flavors; the alcohol presence also seems tamed. The mouthfeel also comes across in better fashion; still has a heavy body but not as sticky with residual sugars; bold, boozy warmth.
Besides the sensory improvements, the only other 'big' difference would be 1) this is version 2 and not the collaboration with Blackstack Brewing as with the first release, and 2) the date between canning and my reviews. In the current case, the beer is close to 1 1/2 months old where the original review would have been about a 2 1/2 month spacing. Anyway, I like this sample much better. Maybe this is a case of fewer 'cooks' making for a better beer broth plus having a relatively fresher sample...also, the hop selection is different: Mosaic, Citra, Galaxy and Azacca cryo hops with this version whereas v1 used Mosaic, Sabro and Lotus.
