Pours a fully opaque amber orange with a finger of white suds reducing to a thin ring. Plenty of purée pieces suspended. Now is strawberry, cinnamon, pie crust, and vanilla. Taste follows suit with sour base up front followed by sweet vanilla and graham cracker pie crust with strawberry and rhubarb purée undertone finishing a nice cinnamon note. Feel is thick and smoothie like. Good beer.

Brewed with strawberry and rhubarb purees, cinnamon, vanilla extract and graham crackers, Untitled Art's Berlinerweiss-styled ale desperately wants to be pie.

Strawberry Rhubarb Sour jumps right out of the gate with a rather muddy, rusty pinkish mauve color. As a creamy tarnish froth pulls from the muck, the ugly duckling of a beer soon starts to win over the senses with a tangy red berry scent with suggestions of vanilla cream, coconut and nutmeg. A mild sweetness then greets the tongue with impressions of sweet cream, taffy and shortbread.

The effects of the berlinerweiss is finally felt as the ale rolls along the middle palate, loosing its bulk of cream, cereal and sweetness to allow the tartness to take hold. Seemingly wine-like, a hint of cider, lemon, lime, green apple and gooseberry lay a foundation of acidity for balance and complexity. Still, a presence of coconut and pastry crust persist on the late palate.

Medium bodied and certainly full for classic berlinerweiss, the beer is more of a pastry sour ale that never sheds it sourness nor embraces the sweeter pie character. Its a tasty blend of two worlds of flavor if you can get by its appearance.
