This beer blew me away. I ordered it at a local pizza joint. When it arrived the first thing that I noticed was the color. It was very red. Like cherry juice red. The smell was sweet and enticing. But the flavor... Was other worldly. Sweeter than expected and was deep and rich. It wasn't a roasty or malty stout. It was unlike any beer I ever had before. The feel was lighter than a traditional stout. And lingered in the aftertaste of it longer. This beer would be perfect for after dinner and would pair well with Swiss or munster cheeses.

I am trying this beer off the tapper at The Daily Growler in Powell, Ohio as part of a six sample flight. It poured an opaque dark with no head and no lace. The scent had delicious chocolate and pastry notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with sweet milk chocolate malt base with pastry and molasses presence. As the beer warms the bourbon from the aging process is becoming more prevalent. The mouthfeel was fuller in body with subtle carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

Pours red brown, with absolutely no carbonation. A strong ABV hits the nose when this is opened. Some chocolate can be detected but that ABV gets in the way. Taste is sweet, strongly ABV and bourbon with just a hint of red velvet at the very end of the profile. This is, IMHO, unbalanced and misses the mark, but still I enjoyed it and didn't put it down at all.
