Pretentious Hopper
Rek' lis Brewing Company
IPA - New England / Hazy
If Pretentious means awesome, then yes, it sure is! Wow. Those hops are maxed out of Dry-hop style. Plenty of dried fruit bowl mix in there with a crunch, dry leafy ground style bite. Dry and juicy all the way. Nose has dried out tropical fruit upfront.

Decent beer, not really a hazy as it's too clear and bitter, but it was well paired woth my spicy sandwich.

Pours dark gild, little nose, decent lacing . Pretty thin mouth and flavors very light.

From the 16 oz. can dated 03/19/21. Sampled April 9, 2021.
The pour is orange-amber with a modest, fading off-white head.
The aroma is pineapple, pear, and other tropical sensations along with a lower profile oat grain.
The mouthfeel is medium but smooth.
The taste has a sweet start but then a tropical bitterness roars in to finish it off.

From a 16oz can with no freshness date.
Pours into my tulip a hazed brassy gold with an immense cake-like cream colored head. Good retention and full panels of sticky fluffy lace. Great looking beer.
Scent is pine, grapefruit, citrus and a delightful oniony dankness.
Taste is melon (canteloupe as well as green) and citrus up front with tropical fruit - papaya and guava - following. Oranges and a hint of orange creamsicle. A touch of caramel and bread crusts. That oniony dankness shows up as the beer warms. I love that flavor in an IPA. Pine resin. Good stout bitterness - I've been missing that in some NEIPAs.
Mouth is juicy and creamy.
This one really impressed me. Fantastic IPA. Looking forward to trying more from these guys.

Poured into a 16 oz tulip glass not sure when it was canned. Pours a hazy dark orange with a 2 finger sticky off white head that leaves big thick streaks of lace with excellent retention. 4.5
Aroma is tangerine, pineapple, melon, caramel, peach, and apricot. 4
Taste follows tangerine, pineapple, honeydew, peach, caramel, and apricot. Tangerine is most dominant for sure. 4
Mouthfeel is above medium, fairly soft creamy carbonation, a little sticky but not dry, and at 7% ABV it drinks bigger all around, but still really approachable. 4.25
Overall this is a really solid brew all around. I would recommend Pretentious Hopper from rek’•lis for sure. 4
