I get on these CANQuest (tm) kicks & it becomes increasingly difficult to stop! I have four (4) of these LYTT beers, out of five of which I am aware & I just want to review them & be done. To say that they are tough is an understatement. It is more like an exercise in just being silly. Oh well. CANiosity might kill this cat, but I'll go down swinging!
From the CAN: "Premium reverse osmosis malt beverage with Guarana & Blue Raspberry natural flavors and certified color."; "Flavored Ale".
Once more, I am baffled. This is an "ale"?!? Hmm. The Crack! was really loud, as it usually is when opening the vent on one of these massive CANs. Is 24-fl. oz. REALLY necessary? Jeez-O, man, I read where this is now being used to make "adult slushees" & I CAN only shake my head in disbelief. My Glug revealed what CAN only be described as resembling toilet water. It was an Electric Blue (SRM = N/A) with NE-quality clarity, resembling what the Ty-D-Bowl Man used to float his boat in. 8=p I did my best to raise some head, but it was as fizzy as pop & dissipated as quickly as I poured. Nose had a Jell-O-like sweetness. I CANnot remember if they make a Blue Raspberry flavor, but if they did/do, this would be what it smells like. They are claiming that some reverse osmosis procedure is reducing sugar content, but it smelled mighty sweet to me. Mouthfeel was rather thin & watery. The taste was very artificial & very sweet, more like Jell-O than beer, with a CANdy-like raspberry sweetness. I followed every swallow with a water back so as to cut some of the intense sweetness. I kind of get the sense that this is Bugsy's response to Four Loko's success (?), but it is some pretty foul stuff. Finish was super sweet, like liquefied CANdy. They claim that it has reduced sugar content, but it does not taste like it. Further, its inherent ABV makes it highly dangerous. YMMV. I suggest proceeding with extreme CANtion.
