Had a can in Banff, and to be very fair it wasn't very cold when served so that may skew my view. It's got a pretty copper color, not a lot of hoppiness, and some caramel/citrus notes, but not really strong. All in all, not bad, but I wouldn't go out of my way to find it. A fully cold can might change my mind a bit.

355ml can poured into tulip.
Pours a clear copper with half a finger of tan head that leaves melting snowbank lace as it recedes.
Smells of dark bread, diced red apple, orange zest and some mild earthy, leafy hops.
Tastes of more bready caramel malt, muddled orchard fruit and citrus, grape skin and more grassy hops.
Feels a bit limp. Medium bodied with fizzy carbonation. Finishes off-dry.
Verdict: Recommended. Not bad, especially after a cold bike ride.

16oz glass at the Underground, another new offering from this nascent Medicine Hat craft brewery to pop up in E-Town. Great name for a brew, especially when the WJHC is on.
This beer appears a clear, dark copper amber colour, with one finger of weakly foamy and wispy tan head, which leaves some stringy coral reef lace around the glass as things gently subside.
It smells lightly of semi-sweet bready and doughy caramel malt, some apple, pear, and generic citrus fruitiness, and very tame earthy, leafy, and floral green hop bitters. The taste is very fruit-forward, with melon and pome dominating, over a decent caramel maltiness, some further mixed grape fruitiness, a touch of innocuous yeast, and more understated leafy, weedy, and musty hoppiness.
The carbonation is quite plain in its bored-seeming frothiness, the body a so-so middleweight, and mostly smooth, nothing really interfering, but that just means that I'm looking for excuses, yeah? It finishes well off-dry, the 'less' malty sweetness still holding court.
Overall, this comes across as simply a weak craft attempt at improving on the Rickard's Red paradigm - damned near no hop bitterness, yet with a reserved (read: thrifty) base amber ale (or lager) character. Not something that I would seek out, because I am both Irish and American, in part, and proud as fuck of it.
