355ml can - the name says it all, it's a 'session' (re: pale) ale, hopped exclusively with the Mosaic varietal.
This beer pours a clear, bright medium copper amber colour, with four fingers of puffy, rocky, and bubbly ecru head, which leaves some stellar webbed lace around the glass as it gently subsides.
It smells of bready and biscuity cereal malt, mixed domestic citrus rind, ethereal tropical fruity notes, a bit of hard water flintiness, and some understated earthy, weedy, and floral green hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy pale malt, orange and white grapefruit pith, a mild pineapple and kiwi exotic fruitiness, some damp minerality, and more weak leafy, floral, and grassy verdant hoppiness.
The carbonation is average in its workaday frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and generally smooth, as Mosaic exhibits some restraint at this particular juncture. It finishes off-dry, still nice and malty, and with a fading forest floor detritus astringency.
Overall - while this is indeed a well-made brew, I don't believe that it shows off the true Mosaic potential, as things seem sort of muted here. Or maybe I'm just being cranky because my car won't start, as it is witches' tits cold outside at the moment.
