Creature Preacher was first released as a pale ale, and has re-emerged as an IPA brewed with a 50/50 blend of Citra and Galaxy hops. Together they’ve created a beautiful mix of mango and papaya like flavors and aromas. Slightly less alcohol content than our typical IPAs allows this to be more drinkable while not sacrificing any flavor.

Nice approachable body with the right ABV for my preferences… but it’s coming across as kind of boring. Seems to be all pith and subtle bitterness and not much else. A little bit of a malt breadiness underpinning that bitterness, contributing to the dry finish… but I somehow find this lacking or underwhelming. I believe it’s falling victim to the more flavorsome beer that preceded it during the session. I’m gonna come back to this one because I think my palate set this one up to fail.

Milky lemonade look. Tart and tangy, lemon/tangerine peel aroma, with a touch of pineapple and light toast malt. Medium light bodied. Lemon peel flavor, with a bit of light toast malt.

On tap at the Tavern Downtown in Hartford, CT.
This one pours a very hazy golden yellow, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like mango, grapefruit, papaya, passionfruit, and grassy hops.
This is a really solid little pale ale (IPA)? Counterweight seems to have this process down. Citra and Galaxy is obviously an all star hop combo, and it gives off a wonderful and slightly exotic juicy hop character, along with a light bitterness.
This is light bodied, slightly creamy, and very drinkable, with a smooth and dry finish.
This was one of the best beers I had over the weekend, it was very impressive and packed a lot of flavor into a pretty small package.
