sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my trusty snifter.
The beer was purchased at the brewery and has been in my cellar since purchase.
the beer pours a jet black color with a fizzy brown head that fades away to nothing almost immediately after the pour. A steady rising stream of small carbonation rises, creating a ripple on the surface, but no more foam. Wish the head stuck around a little more.
The aroma is malty chocolate and a bit of vanilla mixed with light cinnamon. Kind of mild nose and no hint of hops or any ABV either which is impressive for 10%.
The first sip reveals a smooth textured medium bodied beer with fine and tingly carbonation the zings across my palate on each mouthful.
Flavor is what nose predicts, but bigger and sweeter. I get chocolate milk and dark cocoa mixing with some vanilla and toffee, also a bit of a roasted malt flavor and then some warming cinnamon character on the finish. The cinnamon also lingers long after each swallow, it works really well with the sweet chocolate profile.
Hops dont make this show either and again the booze is well hidden. Making this 10% a bit of a dangerous brew.
Im enjoying this one and would buy it again, but I think this is a one off beer.
