West Coast inspired IPA with a firm and well defined hop profile that doesn’t shy away from a rounded, balanced bitterness. Brewed with Cryo Amarillo, Citra and Simcoe it has a classic hoppy grapefruit citrus quality, a touch of pine and a specific Amarillo orange bouquet that really shines brightly.

A: crystal clear; deep gold in color; 1 finger finely pored ivory head that receded to a thin cap; very nice lacing;

S: grapfruit and floral;

T: floral and grapefruit, but with a malt sweetness throughout; moderate bitterness at the end; aftertaste is all grapefruit;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: I love to see any brewery making a WCIPA these days, but this was a touch too sweet;

L: Pours a pale gold color with a medium-full haze. A gentle pour yields a pillowy, white two fingers of head with excellent retention. As the beer goes down it leaves lots of webbed lacing on the glass.

S: I get orange complemented by light notes of grapefruit, a good amount of peach, and a touch of caramel malt.

T: The palate is grapefruit dominant and also has orange and peach mixed in with a barely there hint of sweet grainy caramel malt. I am also getting distinct apricot character on the backend and finish. The finish has a decidedly restrained bitterness for a "west coast style IPA" (I would say a medium bitterness). At first I don't really get much pine at all until the beer has opened up a bit and then it is there in the form of a very light note of pine resin mixing with the aforementioned apricot.

F: This has a medium body with medium-low carbonation. The mouthfeel is a bit watery for the style and the finish has a very light dryness (too light for the style).

O: Honestly, it tastes more like a NebCo east coast IPA and reminded me of face hugger but with a more restrained nose and palate and a less dry finish. Given that it is advertised as a WCIPA I had to knock it on the look and feel categories as it doesn't look the part and the mouthfeel and finish are not to style either. That being said it is a damn tasty beer that fails as a WCIPA but excels at being an American (east coast) IPA. Recommended!
