Counter Weight Kolsch is made with traditional German ingredients and fermented with a classic kolsch yeast strain. Clean and crisp, our Kolsch was cold conditioned for an extended maturation time. Soft fruity notes and delicate malt driven sweetness, all leading to a dry pleasant finish.

L: Pours a straw color with excellent clarity. The pour results in two fingers of fine, white head with good retention slowly falling to a 5 mm cap which is retained as I drink the beer. As the beer goes down it leaves a ringed and webbed lacing on the glass.
S: Grainy malt character, delicate fruity esters, hop character in the form of light notes of fresh cut grass, and just a slight hint of noble hop spice.
T: Grainy-sweet malt character upfront that is quickly cut by a low to medium-low hop bitterness, herbal notes of fresh cut grass, light noble hop spice, and light notes of orchard. This one drinks clean with just the right amount of residual bitterness.
F: Light body with medium to medium-high carbonation. The mouthfeel is smooth with a nice dry finish.
O: The nose really drew me in with that distinctive continental malt profile (that is not often replicated by American craft brewers) and perfectly executed mix of fruity esters, herbal character, and noble spice. The nose, like the palate, is subtle but complex with a nice interplay between the malt and hop bills. Counter Weight has nailed the style with this one. It really reminds me of Reissdorf. Highly recommended!
