Precious Petals is a hard act for Rarefaction to follow in Counterweight’s “on the bine” series. I don’t like this nearly as much. My cans are 25 days old. It’s possible the beer has lost some luster because it feels not quite up to Counterweight’s par. First sip gave me an interesting grape bubblegum note which was the most interesting thing about it. The hops definitely give you the mango, stonefruit and tangerine (more the pith than the fruit) mentioned on the label, but its kind of muted and ends a bit too drying and “dusty” for me. All of the bitterness is coming from that citrus rind bitter and it winds up being a bit one note without some additional and alternative hop flavor/presence to mingle with that pithiness.
