From Brewery Web site: The Doodlebug Dubbel is our representation of the Belgian style Dubbel. It has a sweet malty body with caramel, dark fruit, and other roasty flavors.
SEASONAL BEER
TYPE: BELGIAN ALE
ABV: 6.5%
IBU: 20
SRM: 22.5
The story behind the Doodlebug Dubbel goes back to July 31, 1940. The “doodlebug” passenger train car traveling from Hudson to Akron collided with a freight train halfway through its journey. Only 3 of the 46 passengers on board survived the horrendous crash. The event became known as the Doodlebug Disaster.
Doodlebug Belgian Dubbel. Lock 15. On tap at the brewery 6 25 22.
A: Poured on tap into appropriate glassware, a 12 oz. Snifter, opaque medium brown body under a brief head. Really classic look for the style. 4.5
S: slight medium roast malt smell. I really appreciate that it is not super aromatic, I find that is closer to the style. 5.0
T: medium roast malt, appropriately elevated in the style, predominates. Really nice Dubbel. 4.5
M: any criticism I can think of might be that it a bit thin but that is being really picky when I think of my favorite Belgian Dubbels. 4.0
D: drinkability is high for the relatively high ABV of 7.3%. It is just so delicious. 4.0
