The P.O.C. Pilsener is bright and clean with a light hoppy finish.
P.O.C. is a historic brand in Cleveland, dating back to the late 1800s and being produced on and off for over a century. Our goal is to, as best we can, recreate the beer experience that your great-grandparents would have had when this beer had the only nickname we love…. The Pride Of Cleveland! Sold in 12 oz. cans, with the original artwork from the 50’s and 60’s, this beer is a fun and nostalgic release.

Picked this up at Max’s Carry Out in Geneva on the Lake, OH and had to compliment the lady at the counter for the fair price ($9.99 six pack). “We try” she said. A straightforward pilsner which is what I was looking for. Great golden appearance with a nice white head. Smells of grains and a little floral. Taste is the best part with a bit of a sweet & floral hop flavor, balanced with spicy hops. Clean concord grape and yeast fruitiness and a finish that pleads for more. Comparable to a Czech style version of Victory Prima Pils.

Poured out of a 12 oz can into my pokal glass this beer pours a mainly clear, but slightly cloudy/hazy, pale golden color with a nice, fluffy, creamy looking white head that's over an inch thick when poured with lots of streams of little bubbles rapidly and continually rising to the beer's surface. Head eventually settles to a thick ring lining the inside of the glass along with a thick surface coating of foam and excellent lacing. Aromas of some bready, just slightly biscuity malts along w/ some herbal and floral, grassy hop notes. Also a bit of citrus and some hints of some yeasty esters too. Flavorwise it has some biscuity and bready malts that give way to a bit of citrus fruit along with some herbal grassiness that gives just a bit of sweetness. There's also a hint of pepper and some floral hop notes. A very flavorful beer here, and all the flavors are well balanced. Has a somewhat crisp, mostly smooth, frothy, and even slightly creamy, light to medium bodied mouthfeel with light to moderate carbonation. Has a clean finish, and all of the flavors linger nicely on my palate for a long time in the aftertaste. Easy to drink in a good way. An enjoyable beer and a nice take on this style.

Slightly hazy pale gold color with a finger thick fluffy white head, good retention.
Typical pilsner aroma and a very balanced taste with a hint of sweetness in the finish.
Light body, very drinkable. Need to get some more of this!

12 ounce can into lager glass, no can dating. Pours lightly hazy pale golden yellow color with a small dense and rocky white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of lemon, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, wood, pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Touch of fruity/yeasty aromas, but not overwhelming. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of pils malts and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, wood, pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, woody, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, wood, pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great robustness and balance of pils malts and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. very clean on lager flavors, with minimal fruity/yeasty notes present. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth and moderately bready/grainy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Light lingering resins/rinds through the glass. No warming alcohol as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is a delicious Czech pilsner. All around nice robustness and balance of pils malts and earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with moderately bitter/drying finish, not overly aggressive. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Great balance of clean pils malts and earthy noble hop flavors. No residual sweetness with crisp dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and impressive style example.
