This Northwest take on a New England style IPA is easy drinking and fluffy just as the name suggest. It starts with a big orange juice and apricot character on the nose following through on the palate with notes of mango and pineapple. This lends perfectly to the smoothie-like mouth feel and body. Though full of fruit character it finishes with enough of a bite to remind you that it’s a beer from the west coast. Even with this style seeming to be all the rage right now, we think its all fluff.

nice hop combination on this one, not too heavy or starchy for a hazy, vibrant summery notes from the use of vics secret, citra, and el dorado, a real tasty union, more drinkable than most, somewhat delicate and soft, but then also with some late bitterness which isnt as common as i like in the hazy space, real well done. i love matchless but it hasnt always been their hoppy stuff that stands out, this one does. a little orange tint to this one, frothy white head from the tap, not too murky as these go, lots of bubbles help in keeping it lighter and drinkable. a touch of bready malt to the aroma and flavor, but its more classic ipa character than it is oat creaminess and contemporary haze fodder, dont mind the bit of sweetness the grain brings, i think it sets up the hops really well. aroma is more citrus forward with pink grapefruit and lemon, but the flavor is tropical all the way, ripe cantaloupe, dehydrated mango and apricot, and a lemongrassy thing, its juicy without being obnoxious, and the freshness is lovely. hints of pineapple and coconut too, more of that as it warms, somewhat oily, which drives the hops home on the tongue, and then a sort of out of left field pop of bitterness to help it finish quickly, nice. there is an almost cotton candy airiness to the texture of this despite the grain presence, and it really flatters the hops. this is smartly designed beer with a unique hop combination that hits on all levels. could have made a night of these, really solid.

It smells good, and it's drinkable. Hazy aficionados will probably find this to be mediocre.

Well balanced, easy drinking. A simple, delicious beer highlighting the extraordinary skill of this little brewery. Light, citrusy, medium bubbles. A joy to drink. Never flashy, but always delicious.

Not a lot going on with this beer but it’s drinkable. Pours a murky, pale straw color with minimal head. Aroma is subtly fruity with a dank tanginess.

Taste is just as underwhelming as it looks and smells. Subdued flavors of tropical fruit with a slight tanginess and soft malt profile. Mouthfeel is thin and smooth, goes down easily. Body is medium with minimal bitterness and carbonation.

Haven’t been impressed by anything from Matchless so far. This beer is aright to say the least, nothing notable or special about it.

Quite murky looking in the Stella Artois goblet, but plenty of foam. Citrus peel aroma. I will second the flavors of tangerine and papaya. Some malty sweetness. This is about as hazy as it gets, but the pleasant fruit is what you taste. While the flavors are not exactly clean, there is only a little danky-gaggy stuff. It does get hot with the yeasty stuff if you pour out the last of the dregs. From the 16 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station in Bellingham.

Tropical notes to the nose and quite malty on the tongue with VERY little bitterness at the end. So balanced that nothing seems to grab your attention or shine.

Well, it looks a bit strange. Most other reviewers describe it as more or less normally IPA-colored, but this one is sort of pale grayish yellow brown, almost puce. Not very pretty, though the head is nice. Could it have suffered somehow in the can? Only the color seems to have been affected, otherwise it’s a very nice beer. Decent nose, though a bit understated. Perfect taste for the style, juicy and gently tangy. Very nicely fluffy. I had to mark the look down quite a bit, but overall I enjoyed it a lot.

Ripe mango puree, papaya, peach, melon and a hint of lemon. Biscuit malt. Citrus bitterness rounded out by nice level of sweetness. Creamy feel. Very good.
