This is imperial stout with three different varieties of vanilla beans and coco nibs. As this name suggest this is what the chocolate river in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory would have tasted like if it were beer!

500ml bottle, undated but assumed to be fresh, poured into a 14oz snifter glass.
The beer pours a nice jet black color, thick and viscous as it enters the glass where a nice foamy finger of khaki head rises with moderate retention and nice swatches of sticky lace cling to the glass. The aroma is very good, lots of chocolate, smooth roasted grain, with light marshmallow character and a bit of boozy vanilla that lingers with some faint stone fruits. The flavors are great, tons of chocolate, dark brownie batter with a nice smooth vanilla character, lightly sweet marshmallow character with a touch of cream, light stone fruits and mellow roastiness. The mouthfeel is nice, coats very well with a nice full body, medium heft that is quite smooth and finishes effortlessly with just a hint of warming alcohol.
Verdict: A very good imperial stout from Matchless Brewing. Not an overpowering vanilla beer at all, it avoids being cloyingly sweet and is very nicely executed that allows for the chocolate and grain characters to shine.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a thin khaki head that dissipates to patches and a ring around the glass with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa and mild vanilla. Flavor is semi-sweet dark toasted and biscuit malt, cocoa, vanilla and nuts. Finishes malty and nutty with light grassy hop bitterness. Medium bodied with good sturdy creaminess; nice mouth feel. A nice, malty stout with some of the best cocoa flavor I've experienced in a stout with nibs, there is a distinct hot cocoa component. The malt is richer, nuttier and more biscuit than usual for a big stout, reminiscent of a big English porter or stout. Vanilla and hops add some interest but are in the background. Well balanced and full malty flavor. ABV is well covered; drink with caution. I really enjoyed sipping this one. A nice introduction to this new brewery lead by the old head brewer of Three Magnets, which leads to great expectations.
