Coming out of the can, Masshole looks miserable. It's got a grapefruit tint to its ugly cardboard colored body. Even the fluffy white pillow on top has a wierd coloring to it. If a Massholes slack jaw could be portrayed in liquid form, I'd imagine it would look this obnoxious.
All the essential hazy IPA aromas are present. Yeast, check. Tropical fruit smoothie, check. Indistinguishable malts, check, check, check.
And then a little spin. Don't get me wrong, it's a friggin fruit smoothie, but strawberry and blueberry dominate the rest of the smorgasbord. Must be the "Juice" yeast. Melon and tangerine follow, and a sharp pine to finish. Guess that last part is the West Coast contribution.
Creamy and juicy at first, then tingly and bitter last. A pretty full body and some decent carbonation along with a touch of alcohol warmth.
Much more of an NE style than West Coast, although in Matchless' defense, they never did specify the ratio. The best thing about this one is the label.
Get outta heeeah!
