Around here, next to Pilsner, Pale Ale makes our world turn. Hazy but classic, hoppy but never too bitter, balanced and not heavy. Pale Ale is a way of life! The Falls pale pays homage to the falls that powered the first brewery in Tumwater. This round was double dry-hopped with Mosaic, Citra and Amarillo and drinks twice its weight! Brewing in the South Sound, it's tradition

quality pale ale here, light in color and light on the grain in general, lightly hazy, definitely a modern approach to the style and a real drinkable warm weather brew, i appreciate the low abv and the ease with which this hits, thirst quenching for a hoppy one. its definitely dry hop focused, but not overdone, fruity and citrusy and fresh without being green or burning or lingering or oversaturated, not the easiest line to walk with such a minimal grain base, but they nail the balance i reckon. some dry earthiness to the pale barley, and i suppose some white wheat could be in play, but to me this really isnt built for body like the contemporary hazy ipa, its much lighter and more tidy than that, dry the whole way, a fine foundation for these hops, out of the way but not absent. the hops hit with obvious citra character, from meyer lemon zest to lemongrass and even lemon curd in this instance, freshness again is peaking, but also there are layers behind it of canned pineapple juice, papaya, and green not quite ripe melon like you get in a crappy hotel buffet fruit salad, hard like that. it adds a cool freshness to this. there is just a little yeast thing going on, not english, not thiolized, not anything major, but it works as a unifier and i like the ferment overall here. more than just a juicy bomb overall, but certainly leaning that way. well carbonated, soft feeling, and just a little bit of bitterness on the swallow, which is clean and quick for how hoppy this is. a solid pale ale all up, with a lot of fruity hop character and very drinkable as they go. so stoked to have matchless beers available in idaho now!

Clear amber with an orangish tint. Plenty of foam in the Brigand chalice. Quite lively and carbonated on the tongue. Aromas of straw, bread, and a whiff of cedar. Warm malt with a dry finish. Actually very light flavor but something like a berry taste lingers.
Overall this is quite restrained but exuding a pleasant hoppy character. Just not overdone. Well balanced and highly drinkable. From the 16 oz can shipped from Matchless. "Canned 5/3/2021" in the corner of the label.

Far superior in execution to its follower, The Bridge. This brew has a honey-golden hue with a full finger head. Full body for a 5.5% with Pilsner malt, a clean crisp feel and smell with the aroma adding some sharp citrus. The taste is predominately slightly underripe strawberries with a minor quality of wet stone. I will get this again undoubtedly.
