Nearly clear yellow brew with fine-grained white foam in the Hopleaf goblet. Inviting sudsy mouthfeel. Deeply aromatic with lemon, orange and a hint of honeysuckle. Even a bit of funk. Citrus flavors with candied citron, I am thinking. Modest bitterness in keeping with the fruitiness.
This is so un-hazy even though it's brewed with flaked corn, spelt, and flaked barley. The mouthfeel is smooth but not slippery, and certainly the flavors are clean and not stupefied with murky gunk. The hops are listed as [Hallertau] Blanc, Ariana, Centennial, and Chinook. Somehow Matchless gets such better flavor out of the ingredients.
Malty and just right with the sweetness. Overall, a delicious and restrained IPA that laughs at the NE style murk bombs. Now I wish I had more of these instead of the single 16 oz can I bought at Elizabeth Station in Bellingham.
