L: When I’ve called other brews black as pitch, this tops them. A skinny tan head fizzes away instantly.
S: Oh my! A touch of boozy heat hits first but what follows is incredible. Rich rich cocoa nibs and silky chocolate with a bit of lovely bourbon on the nose. A touch of soy sauce and molasses. This will be top notch for sure.
T: More impressive on the palate, no heat, but wonderful bourbon, splendid oak, and chocolate notes. Sweet with little bitterness but uncloying. This is how you do sweet stouts. The vanilla is here for balance only. So decadent. Reminds me of bourbon balls at Christmas. If bourbon and chocolate could be melded to one desert this would be it.
F: Not BCBS in the mouthfeel but getting there. The added carbonation sells it for me.
O: Worth every cent of the dollar an ounce cost. This may have not set the bar but it fully rose to it. A new addition to my top ten!
