Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a thin khaki head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, coconut, chocolate and vanilla. Flavor is toasted malt, coconut, milk chocolate and light vanilla. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A medium bodied stout with clear coconut flavor and light chocolate. The malt body is thin for the size of this stout, leaving the coconut a bit stark on the palate in the finish with a slight artificial note. The chocolate is satisfactory, but nondescript. Balanced, but could use some malt flavor depth to support the coconut, which is often a dominating flavor. A big, but average coconut stout.

a big stout with coconut and chocolate, modeled on the candy beer, heck the label even looks like the wrapper. very tasty stuff here, but also very sweet, perhaps a bit less refined than many of their others, and of all the matchless beers i got to enjoy this past weekend, this one was arguable the least impressive, not to say it isnt delicious because it is, but just that their quality is generally so high that it was weird to have something a little more common from them. it looks a little still and a tad murky from the can, but full confession, we had this outside and it was dark save for the light of our fire. the aroma is awesome, not just coconut, but like the sweet creamy coconut that is actually inside the candy bar, almost a coconut meets condensed milk thing, diabetic but yummy. the chocolate element is also a milk rather than a dark type, which is true to the candy but might have yielded a less drinkable beer here, some bitter earthy dark chocolate would be both a nice compliment and a contrast to the other sweet elements. the malt is roasty and deep but without any bitterness for balance, and the yeast doesnt quite dry this out enough for me personally. i like the faithful reinterpretation of the classic candy bar, they really did nail it, but its not a stout i wanted any more than my third of the can of. pretty well hidden alcohol though, couldnt believe my new friend essentially chugged his though, especially after the barleywine! not gimmicky here, just really sweet.
