Pours a dark brown with plenty of foam in the glass. Smells of grain and candy with kerosene nose. Flavor is Sugar Daddy and some kind of cocoa, finishing with burnt old coffee. Shockingly sweet with a strong bitter aftertaste just to whipsaw your taste buds. That candy nose never goes away. I find this pretty ghastly, though if you're looking for the bizarre it may appeal to you. From the 16 oz can dated 11/29/2021.

Picked this up at a growler guys in Oregon. Truly second only to Old Rasputin when it comes to Imperial Stouts. Everything is so well balanced and the chocolate notes really do come out, although not too strong. I highly recommend it.

an extremely well executed imperial brown ale with chocolate in it, not too desserty despite some residual sugar and a vanilla note in here, this is fermented dry enough and there is some bitterness from the added cocoa that makes this balanced and drinkable, shocking its so strong, you do not taste it in the drinking process at all, i continue to be impressed with just about all of their beer! deep brown color to this but not black and not too thick, no sign of real dark roasted grain in the aroma or flavor either, the low end seems to come from the nibs, and i like it that way, they almost have a melted richness to them rather than an objective sweetness, its like the essence of hot chocolate, a feeling and a taste together, awesome. there is a lot of cocoa character in the grain as well, the fermentation is quite clean, a little unifying breadiness in the yeast perhaps, and the body is light for the color and the size, its smooth and not too full, pretty well carbonated from the can, and overall very well polished. i think the execution of this is great, but i just love the recipe, brown ale doesnt get enough love with the adjuncts, everything is a pastry stout or porter, but there is so much room in the brown ale style for this, and i love how subtle and beery it still is, brown ale first, hints of hot cocoa second, i wish more breweries would take note. a much stronger drink than i rightly needed when i cracked it, but no regrets, this was delicious! looks like they do a mocha version too that i have to find now!
