amazing stuff here, for me the star of our cherry beer night, and among the best i have had from matchless to date. its a ton of cherry, ruby red in color with a frothy pale head from the bottle, great color saturation and lots of bubbles. it smells incredible, and i get hints of cinnamon in here along with all the pie cherry character, although i do not believe this is spice in any way. a ton of oak, red wine berry vibes, and pucker as well. this is fully wild in the flavor, very sour still, especially with the acidity of the cherry added to the bacterial element, but this is also very funky, bretty to me and mature, and it even has a little lambic thing as it warms up, great complexity and refinement at the same time here. i definitely get a little cinnamon type warmth to this, part of the nuance of this robust cherry profile, woody too with a sweetening hint of vanilla and some mellowing of the sourness. bright carbonation to this, hints of cranberry and tart raspberry among the cherry layers too, some grain body but no real malt flavor in the mix at all, and a wonderful uniqueness to this overall, the cinnamon thing is weird from the fruit, but to me it stands out. another exceptional wild beer from these guys, who seem to do just about everything well, i cant get enough!
