Subtitle on this one is "Clear IPA," and it is. Handsome amber brew with a modest foam in the Orval chalice. Pleasing creamy carbonation on the tongue. Aroma of papaya with a whiff of pine. Crisp and tangy, but a nice dose of malty sweetness. More papaya in the flavor with just a hint of citrus peel to finish.
Overall this strikes a nice balance of malt and hops, and of bitter and aromatics. So rich and fruity and bubbly it reminds me of the pFriem Sparkling IPA. One of the more appealing IPAs of the year, and yet another reason I like to try everything from the endlessly prolific Matchless. From the 16 oz can purchased at Central Market in Shoreline.
