i love rice lagers more than ever lately, and i love matchless as much as always, so i was excited to see this one on tap, more flavorful than most, but still light in texture and clean to drink, these guys do everything well! clear and light in the glass, minimal looking but super fizzy, incredibly pale, and holding a high airy white head, a sort of champagne look to it. it smells a little floral from the rice to me, not starchy like these can sometimes be, and with some lightly spicy hops on the back end, but again kind of minimalist, straightforward in a good way, dry cereal, minerals, wetness, more sensations than smells i guess. the flavor is a little more robust, hints of honeysuckle, daffodils, and the grassy hops, light weed dankness, wildly clean finish, some breadiness from the lager yeast but it too is quite light, the rice is appreciable in flavor and texture to me, and its unique even in a soft voice like this. love all the bubbles, the dryness, and the infinite drinkability, and i like it being a little more hoppy than a lot of these ever dare to get. well worth seeking out if you are a fan of the style, this is a cool one.

Amber brew with fast-fading white foam in the Brigand chalice. Plenty of spritz on the tongue. More body than you might think for a light Lager, but this has plenty of malt flavor to go with it. Warm cereal taste with the nicest hint of hops, which are Mt. Hood according to the label. It's a lemon, herbal taste but light and inviting. Overall this is a thoroughly pleasant lighter sort of beer. From the 16 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station. Dated 3/7/2022.
