i have been really enjoying the influx of matchless beers in idaho of late, both in cans and on tap, this was a draft score, and its one of their better ipa types ive had in awhile, rather dense and hazy, but also real well carbonated, interesting on the hops, and easier drinking than it looks, a high quality hazy with some real personality, fresh to my senses too, glad i stumbled onto this one. just tinted orange, a shade richer than most in terms of color depth, and letting about half the light through, a thick one. the hop profile rules though, and the aroma and flavor of this do similar things, really juice forward, tropical without being cloying, and herbal at the end with just enough bitterness to keep it rooted squarely in the ipa realm, which i always appreciate in the mostly dry hopped beers like this. krush hops which i love are evident, and there is mosaic and motueka in here too, a modern and uncommon combination that really works! i get key lime and kiwi, lemongrass and mowed lawn, sweetened shredded coconut and canned crushed pineapple, mango and orange juice without the acid, and a lightly baked supporting thing from the grain riding an oaty protein smoothness and softness, dry but long anyway on the palate, some oils driving the hop intensity, terpene character is evident, deeply fruity and interesting, subtle new tennis ball and white saltwater taffy, lychee and green grape, and more familiar pine and catty character as it warms a little. couldnt probably make a night of it with this body and haziness, could maybe be a bit cleaner than it is, but its not heavy either, nor yeasty really, full and satisfying, balanced in a contemporary way but packing in a little bite on the swallow. awesome overall hop profile, krush is a new favorite for sure!

Hazy amberish brew tiwh long-lasting foam in the snifter. Smells like orange and citrus peel. Big fruit flavor, loads of orange juice, the usual suspects rounded up. Tangy and a little astringent, but not overly acidic. All of these NEIPAs taste the same to me; it's just that some that manages to be less offensive than most of the breed. As with most everything that Matchless does, they do it a little better. This is a highly drinkable hazy IPA with pleasing fruit flavors. From the 16 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station.
