another super solid ipa from matchless, seems like the new stuff has been coming fast and furious lately, which rules, ive been buying pretty much all i see, this one is loaded with a cool mix of hops, hazy without being too thick, and summery and fruity in a pretty distinctive way, i really dug it, so did my father in law, and this is one i would absolutely pick up again. el dorado, mosaic, centennial, and topaz in here, which is the one that probably makes it interesting, not so much mosaic that it defines it, which is common, this is uncommon. some murk to this but not crazy dense, darker than yellow but lighter than orange really, no visible sediment, frothed up and lasting near inch of white head from the pint can. there is an slightly almost gritty texture to this which is odd, not totally explainable, and something i find to really be its only limiting factor in terms of being a drinker, but lets talk hops. this comes aromatically with candied pineapple, sweet orange, ripe mango, kumquat and mandarin, and a little bit of sweetness through it without being malty in the traditional sense, its long and its balanced to me, bitterness is tame, and the hops really pop is fresh. the flavor is similar, some white wine grape, mango for sure, jasmine and exotic white florals, rambutan, canned fruit cocktail and the little mushy pear bits, real nice. there is only light greenness to this, not harsh at all, and with some body that suggests some oats in play. the texture is curious, not actually sandy but without being heavy or chunky its kind of grippy in a way these usually arent, and that is more apparent as it warms too. there is also a little something to the ferment in here which is not out of place. i think the topaz hops make this unique, vanilla and berry come out at the end, a little resinous and weedy too, well build and intriguing, ive had a ton of ipa lately and none of them taste like this one does, hard to do these days, respect!

16oz can poured into a clear plastic cup that was provided; clear, medium-deep gold with a creamy layer of head foam. Fairly juicy and somewhat pithy, notes of citrus fruit and grapefruit, as well as floral notes, melon, hard candies, some malt character beneath that. Not especially impressive...
