Whenever we jump on the brew deck with Aaron from 3 Magnets / Self Care, we know we’re in for some nuancey, esoteric shenanigans. What started as a Hefe using Salzgitter German pils malt and a nice Bavarian yeast somehow wound up getting decocted and dry hopped with Mandarina Bavaria, Citra and Kazbeck. Mouthwatering aromas of dried bananas, Naval orange, pink bubblegum, mellow clove and grapefruit entice the olfactory before the pallet is blessed with lush flavors of banana runt candies and orange cream. Oh.. and you can TOTALLY taste that decoction!

Hazy amber brew with abundant foam in the Stella Artois goblet. Pleasant grainy aroma with clove in the nose. Moderately sweet but there is a tangy lemon finish. Aftertaste is more dry with a touch of bitterness and the yeasty stuff. Overall this seems like an improvement over most of the Hefeweizens I've had lately. The hops are just enough to brighten up the sweet estery mush. Still, it's quite a mouthful and probably better with some saurkraut and a pork knuckle. From the 16 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station. Dated 5/20/2024.
