cool draft find, uncommon beer too, unlike others, and no matter how this was made i was reluctant to add it as a kettle sour, as its foudre aged and thus different than most or nearly all of those, real fruit is obvious too, just an absolute ton of it. one look at the pour and i was expecting a low brow gimmicky thing, its super thick, downright electric purple, and looks thick as can be, bright enough to be unnatural, but it doesnt smell or taste that way which is crazy, even after a glass of this i am confused by it. lots and lots of fruit in nose and taste, sweet and concentrated like preserves, tart and not quite ripe too, tannic from the skins, and vinous to me with the berry sharpness and the appreciable wood aspect. its not all berries though, some almost flanders red level vinegar acidity to it, vanilla from the oak, piquant lemon character, and some neat funk, partially wild it seems anyway, more than just lactic front end souring for sure, and im into that. lots of body, gloopy and thick, fruited into oblivion but with some grain weight too, despite its lack of flavor there, less sweet as it warms, more acidic, heavy fruit all the way though, very little carbonation which slows it down further, red wine, black currant, and even green apple nuance. the color is baffling, it seems sloppy a little bit, but also on purpose. interesting and unexpected, credit for the wood and funk part, this is relatively complex. one was plenty, but i dig it. matchless continues to excite me!
