Poured from 16oz can into my 8th Wonder chalice. Label says "canned fall 2025". This beer is oak-aged, but I don't know whether it's a kettle sour or soured-in-wood.
Appearance: rich red-amber hue with a bit of haze and a finger of frothy tan foam atop with a bit of a pinkish cast to the foam.
Smell: quite tart with a lovely underlying cherry aroma and some nice vanilla notes from the oak. Reminds me of a Flanders red.
Taste: very tart right up front, with a sweet but characterful malt underneath. There's a caramelly element that reminds me of an oud bruin. The cherry is there, and nice, but at a much lower volume than in the aroma. It's good, but, although there's some sweetness here, it's kinda unbalanced in favor of the sourness.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a moderate carbonation, but a good smoothness.
Overall: I am liking this beer a lot, but boy, it's very sour indeed. I like a good sour, but this one could be maybe dialed back just a notch.
