An espresso porter as written on the tag on my howler.
Poured from a howler purchased at Collective here in Cowtown.
Appearance - Pours a dark chestnut brown with two fingers of bubbly mocha tan head.
Smell - earthy, leafy, and floral hops, strong coffee bean, roasted malts, cocoa, hint of vanilla, and earthy yeast.
Taste - earthy, leafy, and floral hops upfront. The coffee bean is there but not as potent as in the aroma. The brew then goes into the roasted malts, cocoa, and hint of vanilla. The earthy yeast rounds out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. The cocoa and coffee bean linger together. The mouthfeel is just a touch thin.
Overall - A well thought out concept but I wish this was more coffee forward rather than a balanced porter with the coffee, cocoa, and roasted malts all playing together to create more a balanced brew which is still respectable.
