Can purchased from Iron Tug Brewing in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a dark brown-ish/black color, with a very small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like earthy, bittersweet maple, roast, smoke, licorice, and dark chocolate.
This is very intriguing, and could possibly be polarizing. It's got an earthy and smoke bitterness, which I assume is imparted by the mushrooms. There' s a nice roast and dark chocolate character, with some dark fruit, licorice, and caramel as well. The maple character itself is pretty light. A more pronounced maple character could have possibly led to this being more balanced. Even without that sweetness, I still enjoy this.
This is medium bodied, maybe a little bit too thin, but still pretty drinkable, with no real booziness to it.
I really like the idea behind the initiative, and I like how creative this one is.
