A 330ml bottle with a BB of March 2018. Given to me ages ago by my brother and stashed away in a box. The brewer isn't explicitly mentioned on the label, although it states 'brewed in the tradition of the Van Roy brewery'. The label also says that Belgian hops were used to make this beer.
A: Poured into a Duvel tulip. Bottle conditioned. A deep amber hue with good clarity and intense carbonation. Yields a vast head of fluffy white foam with excellent retention; this slowly subsides to a persistent surface layer. Nice lacing. Looks just right.
S: Aroma of fruity yeast esters with hints of earthiness, mild banana, spice, subtle dried fruit, a touch of leafiness, faint grain and a whisper of booze in the background. Dry and understated - pretty good.
T: Tastes of fruity yeast esters with notes of spice, earthiness, subtle banana, faint dried fruit, vague leafiness and a touch of alcoholic heat in the background. Very dry, followed by a light bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with lively carbonation and good body for the style. Somewhat astringent; dries the palate. Aftertaste of earthy, fruity yeast, spice, mild banana and leafiness.
O: A decent stab at the style with an understated character. Ages well; I've had this bottle for over a year. Looks superb, while the aroma and flavour showcase fruity yeast notes, spice and booze. Nice body - prickly and dry. Distinctly Belgian and worth sampling.

Beautiful looking, clear with a good head on it, promising much. Further, it was like drinking tea with too much sugar in it + a bit of alcohol. No bitterness, hardly any carbonation.
