A: medium brown in color with an impressive head.

S: brown sugar, and ripe banana up front. Hints of spice in the finish.

T: malty with brown bread, followed by dove lovely fruit flavors, perhaps berry or raisin. Brown sugar finish.

M: medium with fine, effervescent carbonation. Semi dry finish.

O: for the quality and the price, this is a win.

Founded 1784, one of the oldest continuing breweries and one of the most innovative in Belgium. The Van Steenberge family has managed the brewery for six generations, with Jef Versele, the great-great-grandson, currently serving as owner and CEO.
At Lidl - you can buy these beautiful beers $12.99 a four pack.
A) Bear claw thick foamy head and lace over a dark occluded brown-amber body, a 5!
S) Plenty of aroma raisins, bread, yeast, original esters, and bakery.
T) At 10.5% might sip like wine and would be as rewarding with fruit cake, raisins, bakery - and those long changing, elusive esters and essence from the double fermentation and continuous aging. This is one to lay down and drive 1 a year to see how well it ages.
f) peppery finish. Would pair well with ripe, rich cheese, sausage, meats, duck.
o) One of my favorite beligians - so glad I found it - half the price of others.

Dark for a Tripel. Decent BSDA. Lightly raisiny and boozy.

Poured from 330ml bottle into tulip glass. Spongy beige head falls slowly, moderate lacing. Color is hazy copper-brown. Aroma of Bret yeast, dark fruit, nuts, grain. Mouthfeel is medium and frothy with a lingering drying finish. Flavors are spicy clove, cinnamon, pepper along with bready malt and earthy hops.

.33L stubby brown bottle purchased as a 4 pack at Lidl. It has a BB date stamped on the back label of June 4 2024.

Appearance. Hazy, dark reddish-brown body with an excellent beige head.

As the dark body suggests, this triple leans towards a Belgian Strong Dark Ale. It's quite roasty and malty for a triple; a characteristic that's even evident in the aroma.

Mouthfeel. Lively, medium-high carbonation in a medium body. Th tree high ABV is more obvious here than in the aroma or the flavor but still partially hidden.

Overall. Worth seeking out, particularly at Lidls price.

First sip I had I said. Hmmm not bad.

It tastes like their is some chocolate in it, but there is none. On the bottle it says, With notes of plums and cherries.

Bottom line, if you like Belgian beers, you will like this.

All right let's get to the nitty-gritty. It tastes good despite the high alcohol content we Americans aren't used to. Reminds me of Lowenbrau Dark of my youth which I can't get on the East coast. It comes in a four pack and that is all you need to be lit. I can't believe all the hilarious "sudsy", pretentious hipster comments. Sorry, "it tastes good", "a four pack gets you lit", and you don't need to hold you nose choking it down is all you need to know. You're welcome. Happy 2020
