Served on-draught into an Antwerp beer passion weekend beer sommelier glass at Antwerp beer passion weekend in June 2011. Labelled "Gulden Draak Black Edition" on the beer guide. Reviewed from notes. Expectations were high.
A: Pours a creamy soft delicate head of great thickness and good retention. Colour is a dark amber.
Sm: Caramel, toffee, and slight chocolate. A mild strength aroma.
T: Toffee, chocolate, caramel, and dark fruit. Complex, well balanced, and nicely built. The esters coalesce on the climax for a pleasant effect. Nicely subtle and enjoyable.
Mf: Nicely coarse and wet, suiting the flavours of the body.
Dr: Drinkable, but not at all a session beer. Priced highly, but of good quality. Give her a spin if you can find her, but don't expect greatness.

Pours a deep brown to black in color with a tan head. In the aroma, mellow candy sugar and a caramel like presence. In the taste, smooth caramel, but not sticky, a touch of fruitiness, and a note of alcohol. A smooth and medium bodied mouthfeel, with a mellow caramel like aftertaste. Quite good!
