Stubby bottle of 330 ml, bought of course at Slijterij Van Pernis, for whom this beer is made exclusively. Nice lloking label, is lacking a back label and some more info, like ingredients and barcode. On to the beer which was poured into a tulip glass. Nice apperance with dark ruby/ light brown colour on the body and a big, off white, soapy head of three fingers. Good retention and lots of lacing as the foam goes down. Aroma is mostly of roasted malts, with some light caramel on the background and a light alcohol smell, but only if you inhale deep enough. Maybe some cookie dough too. Lots of the roasted malts on the taste too upfront, turns into a pleasantly bitter chocolate taste along with some acidity, which actually helps to make the taste more intense. Thin body for a dubbel and carbonation above average. Fairly dry on the palate. Overall a nice enjoyable beer. With a bit more thickness on the ody and slighty less carbonation, we would have a local champion.I guess it would be difficult to come across it but if you do, don’t hesitate to grab a couple of bottles.
