First review of this beer on BA. Picked up a 6 pack of this over 20 years ago in Springfield. Make this today and they would have some Simpsons IP line stepping I bet.
Poured a familiar golden color and had 1/2" of head, decent clarity. Aroma had me question if this was an English ipa, had more in common with Bass pale ale than it did Sierra Nevada. Mute burtonesque notes and tones.
Taste was again pretty mild. Wasn't quite as malty as an English ipa, did seem to have the standard Cascade hop usage here. But it was very pedestrian step dad for a home brew kit for Christmas and made this "balanced" pale ale kind of feel to it. Mild two row and Cascade resulting in a 30ibu level. And no, this wasn't a smooth hazy beer with flaked oats, its just what a pale ale was when people didn't like hops, even old school non proprietary hops.
So it did have a place, basically it was a pale ale for people who liked balanced pale ales.
