Thank you Jay for this beer! Blonde ales that I have tried lately, have been awful. The beer is 44 degrees and served in a pint glass. The pour created a pleasant two-fingered head with average retention. The bright white head is creamy, airy, and billowy leaving lacing on the glass as it dissipated. The color of the beer is SRM 6, pale amber with golden yellow hues. The beer is clear with a few lazy carbonation bubbles dancing towards the top.
Initial aromas in the beer are floral esters, crackers, and dried herbs. Nosing further I detect, citrus, doughy bread, a subtle fruity sweetness, and a touch of earth. It was a challenge to get the aromas from these beers.
The flavors in the beer are pine needles, spicy floral esters, crackers, wet grass, citrus, toasted bread crust, lightly toasted malts, grapefruit, and phenols.
The mouthfeel of the beer is slightly astringent and dry.
The body of the beer is medium, medium carbonation, and a medium-plus finish.
This blonde ale is above average. The hop profile provides enough hops without pushing it towards a pale ale. Some could feel the pine resin and grapefruit could technically call it a pale ale, but I think those flavors should be amped up just a bit more to called it. The malt profile fits the beer and gives enough, but does not make it malty or sweet. Definitely loved this beer, I wish I had more.
