Pours jet black with fine, chocolate colored foam.
Smell is roasty with a huge punch of licorice and anise, backed by smaller notes of chocolate, coffee and some sweetness.
Taste is soft and rich, quite roasty but still with the licorice and anise front and center. Chocolate, coffee and coffee grounds round the flavor out, and finishes with a bit of bitterness.
Mouthfeel is medium and smooth, but slightly undercarbonated.
Overall, a very nice porter, hits all the right notes for me, even though porters aren't my favorite style.
